Spore-based Bioindicators
Reliable Validation, Protecting Health!
Bioindicators are a critical tool for verifying microbial reduction and ensuring the effectiveness of UVC sterilization systems. By using bioindicators, operators can quickly and easily confirm that their UVC disinfection process is effectively killing microorganisms and preventing product contamination. Simply measuring UV intensity or the condition of the UV lamp does not guarantee microbial inactivation, as multiple factors – such as exposure time, distance, surface geometry and microbial resistance – affect sterilization efficiency. Bioindicators provide a direct, practical and reliable method to evaluate the actual kill rate of microorganisms. Incorporating bioindicators into routine validation ensures that UVC surface sterilization remains safe, compliant and consistent, protecting both products and end-users from contamination risks.
Microbial Indicators
Our laboratory operates under Safety Class 2 standards, ensuring the highest level of handling safety for all our products. Sterixene bioindicators are a patented solution and are based on spores, not vegetative microorganisms, providing reliable and consistent results for validation and monitoring purposes.
Each shipment comes with a detailed certificate, including contamination level, expiration date, and reference number. Reference samples are securely stored at Sterixene in refrigerators until their expiration date, and every shipment includes three comparison indicators to guarantee stability during transport.
Bioindicators are available in different packaging sizes. The size of each bioindicator is 18×22 [mm] for up to log5; for higher concentrations, the size increases accordingly.
Evaluation of the bioindicators typically takes approximately 2–5 days until results are available.
