What is UV-C disinfection and how does it work?
UV-C disinfection uses short-wavelength ultraviolet light (around 254 nm) to damage the DNA and RNA of microorganisms, preventing them from replicating and rendering them harmless. Unlike chemical disinfection, it leaves no residue, requires no rinsing or drying time, and works on air, water and surfaces alike.
What's the difference between low-pressure, medium-pressure and pulsed-light UV systems?
Low-pressure systems emit UV light at a single, highly efficient wavelength and are the standard choice for most continuous disinfection tasks. Medium-pressure systems emit across a broader spectrum at higher intensity, suited to more demanding or higher-throughput applications. Pulsed-light systems deliver very high-energy bursts instead of continuous light, achieving the highest reduction rates in the shortest exposure time, ideal where space or contact time is limited.
Can existing production lines be retrofitted with UV-C disinfection?
Yes. Most of our systems and components are designed to integrate into existing lines rather than requiring a new build. Our engineers assess the line layout, throughput and hygiene requirements to recommend the right configuration for a retrofit.
