Biocompatible Adhesives For Catheter and Guidewire Assembly
Hoenle’s selection of light curable adhesives under the Vitralit® brand for catheter and guidewire assembly produce cured properties that meet manufacturers’ most taxing demands. These adhesives are moisture resistant, highly flexible, and when cured, possess dry, tack-free surfaces. Specifically designed for challenging medical product assemblies such as catheters and guidewires, these Vitralit® adhesives are formulated to meet USP Class VI and ISO 10993 biocompatibility standards, and are compatible with gamma, EtO and E-Beam sterilization processes.
Flexible, fast curing adhesives for catheter assembly
Hoenle medical grade adhesives that are specifically optimized for catheter and guidewire assembly are LED curable and will fully cure (or harden) in fractions of a second using UV or visible light wavelengths (365, 385, 405 nm). When paired with our Hoenle LED light curing systems, bonding processes are optimized for speed and consistent output. Our biocompatible adhesives produce high-strength bonds while maintaining high flexibility, which is highly desirable for catheter assembly. All Hoenle adhesives recommended for catheter assembly meet the application performance requirements stipulated by designers of today’s minimally invasive devices.
Manifold assembly, balloon bonding and thermistor potting are ideal applications for Hoenle’s medical grade adhesives. Each adhesive is capable of bonding multiple substrates that can include polyethylene, polyamide, polycarbonate, polyimide, acrylic, and nickel titanium blends. As polycarbonate subtrates are often fluorescing blue, Hoenle developed orange fluorescing adhesives to facilitate visual quality inspection. High bond strength, flexibility, and low shrinkage minimize problems associated with delamination and cracking after sterilization and aging. Other suitable applications for Hoenle’s catheter adhesives include the bonding marker rings, tip forming and guidewire transitions.
