Gräfelfing/München (pta029/15.07.2021/14:40) - According to preliminary figures, Hönle Group sales revenues increased from Eur 71.7 million to Eur 84.9 million in the nine-month period. The operating result (EBIT) climbed from Eur 6.3 million to Eur 7.3 million. Adverse effects weighted on the Hönle Group's business development in the current financial year: In some individual sectors such as the printing press market, the dampening effects of the Corona crisis were still being felt with sales in the first nine months of the 2020/2021 financial year being significantly below the previous year's level. Moreover, there were supply bottlenecks on the procurement side. Long delivery times for raw materials, electronic components and in some cases also for mechanical components led to the postponement of delivery dates from the third quarter to the fourth quarter.

Outlook
The Bavarian state government has decided to promote mobile air disinfection systems for use in public and private training and educational institutions, explicitly mentioning equipment using UVC technology for the disinfection of room air. In Bavaria alone, this results in a demand for around 120,000 devices. Should other German states follow Bavaria's example and promote mobile UV air sterilisation equipment, this would result in a demand for 800,000 devices for Germany as a whole in the short term.
The Management Board sees good growth opportunities for the Hönle Group concerning both the equipment of air purifiers at public and private schools and in a variety of other areas of application such as restaurants, fitness studios, pharmacies, doctors or opticians. Consequently, at the end of the fourth quarter, but especially in the next financial year, excellent business development is anticipated for equipment and UV lamps used for the disinfection of room air. The Management expects an additional sales volume of up to Eur 15 to 40 million for UV air sterilization equipment for the next financial year.

In addition, the Management Board expects good business development with drying systems for the printing press market, supported by the high order backlog at the end of the third quarter, among other things.
Rising sales of lamps and components for disinfection systems will also contribute to favourable business development at uv-technik Speziallampen GmbH in both the current year and the next year.
The Adhesives segment is also expected to again see strong business development from the next financial year onwards. Ongoing customer projects and an enlarged customer base will contribute to this. In order to be able to achieve the planned growth, both the development and the sales capacities in the Adhesives segment will be increased once again.

Significantly improved sales and earnings compared to the previous year continue to be expected for the current financial year.

The quarterly statement for the period from 1 October 2020 to 30 June 2021 will be published on 6 August 2021. as scheduled.
